Unfortunately, due to the weather the captain’s prize to the men competition had to be changed to 18 hole stroke on Sunday 6th August. Despite this over 130 men took part in the revised format which is a great testament to our Captain PJ Moran. The scoring was very close with David Kearney declared the winner with a 68 nett. David was a popular winner on the day and congratulations to him. Other prize winners from the Captain’s prize competitions were:
2nd Brian Feeley 69 nett, 1st Gross Enda Daly 67, 2nd Gross Richie Evans 71, 3rd David Farrell 69 nett, 4th Andy Lawlor senior 70 nett, 5th Jim Casey 70 nett, 6th Mark Kearney 70 nett. Past Captain’s prize was won by Michael Connaughton with 72 nett. Kay Condon won the ladies 9 hole competition with 22 pts and Jackie Kilroy won the seniors with 38 pts. Well done to everyone. A special word of thanks to our course staff and committee who worked extremely hard to ensure our course was playable for the competitions and to PJ Moran and the men’s committee for sorting out all the administrative work to reschedule the competition’s. A very successful weekend of golf despite the conditions.
