It is a great honour and privilege to be President of Roscommon Golf Club for 2023. I joined the club in 1987 and have enjoyed many great years since. To me an important part of being a member of Roscommon Golf Club is the social aspect and the opportunity to make new friends. In 1999 I had the honour of being Lady Captain.
I was a member of the Ladies committee for many years, including a spell as handicap secretary and as treasurer. I was lucky to represent the club in inter club competitions throughout the years, with some successes but not too many! I look forward to my year as President, representing Roscommon Golf Club and
I wish all the members a successful and a very enjoyable golfing year.
President Mary Cunningham
I am honoured and priviledged to be Lady Captain of Roscommon GC for 2023. I wish to thank the outgoing officers especially Ruth for their hard work and dedication in 2022. I give my word that I will do my very best as your Lady Captain and I hope to represent you and the club as best as I can and to maintain the high standards of the club.
I am delighted with my wonderful committee of knowledgeable and skilled ladies and I thank them all for giving of their time on a voluntary basis. Thanks to all members who serve on committees and sub-committees. There are many hard working volunteers who give generously of their time and expertise.
It is important that we encourage new members into our club. Our “Get Into Golf” has been very successful the last few years and we look forward to running this programme again this year.
My fellow officers PJ, Mary and I look forward to welcoming the young people who have and will join our club – you are the future of our club.
Thanks to all our wonderful sponsors for their generosity and loyalty. We look forward to competing in sponsored competitions in the year ahead.
We are excited to compete in many different Inter-Club competitions and thanks to our dedicated golfers and I wish them well.
I wish all our members and visitors a year of fun, health and happy golfing. We look forward to seeing you all and welcoming all visitors to our wonderful club throughout the year ahead.
Lady Captain Paula Miley
I was a relative latecomer to golf , having enjoyed a long and enjoyable competitive handball career, competing at all levels from Juvenile to Masters grades.
Being from Four Roads I also played hurling at all grades from Schools to Senior level with club and county teams, and I also managed to play some football along the way
On joining the golf club I was immediately aware of the welcome and camaraderie which has always characterised the friendly atmosphere throughout the club, and which continues to reassure all new members on joining the club.
I have represented the club at Pearse Purcell , Jimmy Bruen and Masters level in inter club competitions but with little success to report.
I have served as Treasurer on Men’s Committee for past five years and have been enthralled at the work and commitment of the respective captains in office during that period.
I am extremely honoured ( having overcome the initial shock) to be afforded the privilege of serving as Club Captain for 2023 , and I will be striving to maintain the established standards of the office, based on collaboration and consultation with the members.
Roscommon Golf Club offers a wonderful social and sporting amenity for all existing and new members , irrespective of standard, and I hope everybody continues to have an enjoyable and rewarding golfing year in 2023.
