A big crowd was present for the 2025 drive in last Sunday as President
Johnny Walker, Lady Captain Una Gleeson and Men’s Captain Robbie
McConn began the golfing year in cold but perfect weather conditions.
The day was kindly sponsored by Gleeson’s Townhouse and the
winners of the 10 hole scramble on the day were Carmel Walker, Simon
Walker and Laura Griffith while second were Noreen O’Grady, Jackie
Somers and Seam’ Byrne.
There was deep sadness throughout the club at the weekend at news
of the passing of Teresa Browne who had served as Lady Captain of the
club in 1989. Teresa was a very popular member and officer over many
years and the club want to extend our deepest sympathy to Teresa’s
husband Richard, sons Neil, Richie, and Darragh and daughter Carol,
her brother and sisters, and all her extended family and many friends.
May she rest in peace.
It is hoped that more holes will be open for the members this week as
work on the course continues. Keep an eye on the WhatsApp group and
BRS for more info. Once again the club are indebted to our volunteers
who continued their clean up operations after the recent storm over the
weekend.
There will be a ladies 9 hole re-entry competition again this week and
there will be a men’s competition this coming Saturday and Sunday.
Details from the men’s committee later in the week.
We wish Olivia Costello the best of luck as she represents Ireland in
the Octagonal Tournament in Spain this week. The matches start on
Wednesday February 12 th and continue for four days.
